Current GBA SP Prices in Japan (June 2026)

Game Boy Advance SP Market Update (Japan)

What Happened

This week, a working Game Boy Advance SP sold for approximately $51.90 (¥8,200) on Mercari.

In the current Japanese market:

  • Working units with noticeable cosmetic wear typically sell for $51.90–$55.70 (¥8,200–¥8,800)
  • Clean, fully working units generally sell for $62.66–$66.46 (¥9,900–¥10,500)

Why This Matters

Many overseas buyers assume GBA SP systems are easy to source in Japan.

That is partially true.

Standard working units are available regularly.

However, clean cosmetic condition is becoming increasingly difficult to source in volume.

The difference between an average unit and a clean unit is often only $10–$13, but the availability gap is much larger.

Impact for Wholesale Buyers

For bulk orders, condition matters more than price.

A mixed-condition lot can usually be sourced relatively quickly.

A bulk lot consisting only of clean units is much harder to find.

In my experience, clean-condition wholesale lots appear only occasionally, often through direct relationships with buyback companies rather than public marketplaces.

Jun's Opinion

This is one of the most misunderstood products in the Japanese retro gaming market.

Many buyers focus on average selling prices.

I focus on availability.

The challenge is not finding Game Boy Advance SP systems.

The challenge is finding enough clean units consistently.

For wholesalers, supply consistency is usually more important than saving a few dollars per console.

From my perspective, the supply of clean-condition GBA SP systems has declined noticeably compared to previous years. Prices have not increased dramatically, but availability has become more limited.
